Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe 2017:

It is hard not to fall in love with the new 2017 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe. Its design looks very stunning. Finally, Mercedes has launched a serious onslaught at the BMW M4. I won’t be surprised if the Coupe becomes the top dog of the segment. The model is already in dealerships.

Therefore, if you want a model to use for running your daily errands as well as hitting the tracks on weekends, then the 2017 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe is your best bet. Read along to find out more about the coupe.

2017 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe Exterior:

If you love the C63 AMG Sedan look, then you will find the Coupe quite appealing as its exterior is based on the sedan. For those who are not familiar with the sedan, its elegantly aggressive. The automaker has taken that design and developed it into quite a stunner with all the characteristics of a modern muscle car for the coupe.

The front fascia has a mean look that is characterized by an A-shaped bumper that is different from that of the sedan. It also features a single-bar grille. The grille is flanked by slim and sharp headlights that add to the mean look. On the sides, the model features pronounced side skirts and larger wheels which are wrapped in meatier tires.

At the rear, the coupe features a revised bumper. The bumper is integrated with an aerodynamic diffuser. Four exhaust tips in turn flank the diffuser. The rear also features slim taillights. A small spoiler is mounted on the trunk lid to give the rear a sporty look.

Unlike the outgoing coupe, which looked like a 2-door version of the sedan, the designers this time took more time to hook up the coupe with a body of its own. Compared to the sedan, the front end of the coupe is 2.5 inches wider while the rear is 2.6 inches wider. The model also features wider tires compared to the sedan. The unique upgrades have made the coupe look very aggressive.

2017 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe Interior:

Mercedes is renowned for its luxurious interiors. As such, you can expect the same treatment on the C63 AMG. Rather than construct a new interior design from scratch, the automaker has derived inspiration from the C-Class Coupe cabin, which is awesome. The cabin combines sportiness with premium luxury. The seats on the base model are wrapped in synthetic Dinamica leather as well as microfiber. Surfaces that are not covered in leather feature wood or metallic trims.

Unlike the standard coupe, the C63 AMG features a customized instrument cluster. There is an option for performance seats that come with a lower seating position and extra lateral support. In addition, there is a 13 o’clock stripe accenting on the AMG-badged steering wheel.

In comparison with the regular coupe, the C63 AMG Coupe adds an AMG Dynamic Select switch close to the touchpad and an analog clock on its carbon-fiber trimmed center console. Buyers have option to customize many features to their liking.

The coupes come standard with a full package of airbags including front pelvic airbags, driver’s knee airbag, front-side airbags as well as full-length side curtain airbags. In addition, the model features blind-spot monitoring, pre-collision mitigation system, rear cross-traffic alert as well as a lane-keeping assist system.

Engine Specs and performance:

The coupe gets its juice from the 4.0 L, V-8 mill that powers the AMG GT and the AMG C63 Sedan. The engine delivers two different outputs depending on the trim level chosen. On the base model, the twin-turbocharged mill produces 469 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. On the S trim, the engine will produce 503 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. On the standard model, the engine powers the Coupe to run from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph while on the top S trim, the Coupe makes the same run in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 180 mph.

In fact, the Coupe is quicker than the sedan courtesy of its lighter body. The engines are paired with a revised AMG Speedshift 7-speed automatic transmission with four modes (Individual, Comfort, Sport+ and Race). In comfort mode, the Coupe delivers a fuel efficient and comfortable driving experience. The Race mode is a direct opposite of the Comfort mode as it turns the coupe into a racecar. The personal mode allows the driver to personalize how the coupe behaves on the road.

The coupe also comes with an AMG Ride Control sport-tuned suspension system that features 3-stage adjustable damping. This system further features 4-link suspensions at the front and a multi-link suspension at the rear which can be further adjusted for optimum, long-distance comfort or even for a sporting performance when you decide to take the coupe on the tracks. Stopping power comes from radically mounted brakes with a ceramic composite system offered as an option.

Price and release date:

Mercedes is yet to put an official price tag on the 2017 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe. However, for comparison purposes, the current model has an MSRP of $63,000. I think the new model will remain in the same range with a slightly higher price of around $64,500. The S model will fetch around $80,000. The automaker will want to keep the coupe’s price close to the prices of its close competitors like the segment-leading BMW M4.
