Nissan Frontier:
The U.S. market is again warming up to small light-duty trucks. These models are usually amply equipped and are very flexible, not forgetting their affordability. One model that fits this billing perfectly is the Nissan Frontier. This light truck is offered in two flavors i.e. in King Cab that carries 4 passengers and in Crew Cab that accommodates 5 passengers. Like the outgoing model, the 2017 Nissan Frontier will be offered in five trims, they are the base S and SV, mid Desert Runner and Pro-4X and the top-of-the-range SL trim.

Nissan Frontier Exterior:
The exterior has received just minor visual upgrades compared to the outgoing model. The trucks are still offered in two bed lengths i.e. the short bed that measures 5.0 feet and the long bed that is 6.0 feet long. The short bed is standard on all models while the longer bed is only offered on Crew Cab models.
At the front, the models have received a slight revision on the grill, which is flanked by elongated LED headlights as well as DRLs. The hood has also been redesigned to look more muscular. Both the front and rear bumpers look sharper than those of the outgoing model. On the side, the Frontier features large flaring fenders. All models will have a roof rack as standard. On the rear, the taillights look more elegant. Crew Cab models will get a moonroof.
Nissan Frontier Interior:
Inside, the frontier’s cabin is carried over almost unchanged. The dash is still wrapped in leather while the seats are upholstered in a quality cloth. The models also feature a screen for the navigation system. However, compared to most of its rivals, the cabin looks Spartan. Except for the bas S trim, other trims feature as standard Bluetooth connectivity, which is integrated in the NissanConnect infotainment system. This system uses a 5.8-inch display. The system also offers Smartphone integration. Higher trims will get a 10-speaker Rockford Fosgate sound system.
Other features include folding rear seats to expand cargo space, a cruise control system as well as a tire pressure monitoring system. All models offer a roomy cabin for the driver and the front passenger; however, the rear passengers in the King Cab will find a tight legroom due to its rear jump seats.
I still don’t understand why Nissan does not revise the Frontier’s outdated cabin which is riddled with cheap plastic surfaces. In fact, were it not for its affordable price, the Frontier would find it hard in the market as many people usually overlook it in favor of more refined rivals.
Engine Specs and performance:
The 2017 Nissan Frontier is offered with two engine choices. The base unit is a 2.5 L, inline-4 engine that produces 152 hp and 171 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with either a 6-speed a manual transmission system or a 5-speed automatic one. The engine is EPA rated at 19 mpg, 23 mpg and 21 mpg on city, highway and combined drives respectively when paired with a manual gearbox and 17 mpg, 23 mpg and 19 mpg on city, highway and combined drives respectively when combined with an automatic system. This mill has a towing capacity of 3,500 lbs.

Those looking for more power will find it in the SV trim that features a 4.0 L, V-6 engine that churns out 261 horses and 281 lb-ft of torque. This mill is paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic gearbox. In addition, it will be offered in either RWD or AWD modes. This engine powers the truck to dash from 0-60 mph in 8.2 seconds. It can tow as much up to 6,500 lbs. It is EPA rated at 17 mpg on city, 22 mpg on highway and 19 mpg on combined drives when combined with the manual gearbox and RWD while models with the automatic gearbox and AWD are rated at 15 mpg on city, 21 mpg on highway and 17 mpg on combined drives.

Price and release date:
The 2017 Nissan Frontier will be available in dealer showrooms in early 2017. The entry-level models will have an MSRP of around $19,500 for the King Cab and around $ 23,000 for the Crew Cab version. Higher trims will fetch higher prices.
