Nissan Maxima 2017:
The Maxima is Nissan’s entry-level luxury sedan, which offers a good blend of comfort features, convenience and capability. For quite some time, the Maxima looked like its close kin, the Altima. Seeking to make the model stand out from its kin, Nissan hooked it up with a comprehensive redesign for the 2016 model year. The redesign included lowering its profile to complement its wide stance, addition of a sleeker V-Motion grille, updated boomerang headlights and an ethereal roofline among others. Like the outgoing model, the 2017 Nissan Maxima is offered in five trim levels, they are the base S, mid trims SV, SL and SR as well as the top-of-the-range Platinum trim. The most exciting news is that the sedan will for the first time feature Apple CarPlay that is integrated into the automaker’s NissanConnect infotainment system. This feature will be available on higher trims only.

2017 Nissan Maxima Exterior
The Maxima is a stunning sedan to look at. The model sports a wide stance and a lower profile that culminates in a sporty appearance. The sporty look is enhanced by the model’s sculpted as well as streamlined body lines. A V-shaped grille that stretches in to the bumper characterizes the front look. Flanking the grille are boomerang-style LED headlights. The front also features 3-piece horizontal fog lights that enhance the sedan’s wide stance. The sedan no longer sports a creased hood, as the automaker has preferred a smoother piece.
At the rear, the boomerang style continues for the taillights that also feature LED lighting. The bumper is carried over unchanged but exhaust tips now sport a more conventional look. Nissan has also done away with the black diffuser-like feature in favor of a less aggressive insert.
Overall, the new Maxima has an attractive profile which is enhanced by blacked-out pillars, a dual panel panoramic moon-roof, sloping rear glass, muscular fenders and deeply scalloped doors. The sedan is available in 9 exterior colors.
Like last year, the new sedan has a personalization package dubbed “Midnight Edition”. It adds a sport spoiler, 19-inch gloss aluminum-alloy wheels, rear diffuser.
In terms of size, the model stretches 192.8 inches long, 73.2 inches wide and 56.5 inches tall. The sedan wheelbase stretches 109.3 inches.
2017 Nissan Maxima Interior
On the inside, the Maxima center stack is now angled 7 degrees toward the driver, a feature derived from the GT-R supercar. In addition, the floating center console is now mounted higher than in the outgoing model. The console has a luxurious padding on the sides along with an attractive contrast stitching. This stitching extends on the door panels as well as on the instrument panel.
At the front, Nissan has used Zero Gravity seats. The seats have side bolsters; the driver’s seat is 8-way power adjustable while the front passenger’s seat is 4-way power adjustable. In the base models, the seats are wrapped in premium cloth, mid trims feature leather upholstery while the top trim features Ascot leather. The model also features a flat-bottom steering wheel with perforated leather inserts. Alcantara is also be offered on some models but as an option.

In terms of technology, the Maxima is also well equipped. The model comes with the NissanConnect infotainment system that features a navigation system on all trims, an 8.0-inch screen that features Smartphone-like gestures, Hands-Free Text Messaging Assistant as well as Nissan Voice Recognition. The sedan also features a 7.0-inch digital display for speed, engine output and navigation routing. Apple CarPlay is now standard on all trims. For the 2017 model year, the Maxima will feature two interior personalization packages i.e. Medallion package that adds interior accent lighting and illuminated kick plates and the Dynamic package which adds only illuminated kick plates.
To make the cabin quiet and serene, the automaker has used laminated glass windshield as well as an upgraded active-noise-cancellation system.
Engine Specs and performance
All the five trims of the Maxima are powered by a single mill. The unit that does the job is a 3.5 L, V-6 that produces 300 hp and 261 lb-ft of torque. This mill is paired with a CVT system. The CVT features a D-Stop function for quick shifting. The sedan takes 6.1 seconds to run to 60 mph from standstill, which ranks as average compared to other family sedans.
The model is economic with an EPA rating of 21 mpg, 30 mpg and 25 mpg in city, highway and combined drives respectively. This makes it one of the most economical models in the segment.
