You never know what comes out next from Toyota’s cooking pot. After Launching the CH-R concept last year in Paris Auto Show as a 2-door coupe, Toyota surprised everyone when they debuted the same concept as a subcompact SUV with two extra doors at the Frankfurt Auto Show.

The production model will likely carry five doors. It is being rumored that the crossover will go by the name Auris Cross when it reaches production.

Toyota CH-R Exterior:

The design is new and futuristic with an exterior profile that makes the car appear huge. The new 2017 Toyota CH-R crossover will be based on the Toyota New Generation Architecture (TNGA) which the latest version of Prius is based.

The large profile is further enhanced by its huge; however, the huge size can be mostly attributed to its large bumpers and arches. The version that debuted at Frankfurt looks closer to the final production version which our spies have spotted testing though disguised in heavy camouflage. The spotted subcompact SUV has a length of 171.25 inches, width of 72.83 and stands at a height of 59.05 inches. The front fascia look has borrowed from the Corolla including the Corolla’s front bumpers.

The front also features narrow headlights with a sporty grille flanked with LED headlamps. The front look is further enhanced by bold and sharp lines on the hood. The bold lines continue to the swooping rear roofline that flow to the backend giving it a better sporting stance. The rear features boomerang-shaped taillights with LED lighting. The vehicle rides on large diamond shaped wheels which introduce a new and different flair.

Toyota CH-R Interior:

As far as the interior is concerned, we have no official information. However, we believe Toyota will hook up the vehicle with a pleasant interior styling with modern features. The cabin will be upholstered in quality cloth and we expect the bold curves on the outside to be carried to the cabin specifically to the dashboard.

It will also feature a modern infotainment system, a climate control as well as other convenient features and modern technologies. We will update you on more details as the vehicle nears its debut so keep it here for more.

Engine:

There is no official information on what will drive the 2017 Toyota CH-R. However, Toyota has confirmed that the model will be offered as a hybrid but didn’t clarify whether there will be variants powered by conventional drive-trains.

According to rumors, there is a possibility of a D-4D diesel power-train as well as a petrol engine in addition to the hybrid pairing of a petrol engine and an electric motor.

Price and release date:

It is still too early to expect the automaker to release information on its price or release date. However, Toyota has confirmed that the production model of the 2017 CH-R will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March next year with sales following later before summer.

We expect the automaker to announce its official price during its debut at Geneva. However, rumor has it that the model will be priced lower than the RAV4 meaning it will cost around 20,000$-30.000$
